Tuesday, 2nd July 2024, Second day of Skjoldungens voyage.

One can't say that the weather gods are with us. Since departing from the Museum Harbor in Roskilde on Monday morning, it has been wet and windy, with a west and north wind that is a bit too strong. We are sailing in a coastal boat that is not seaworthy.

The plan was to exit Roskilde Fjord between Hundested and Rørvig, sail along Odden, and down into the Great Belt. But the wind had other plans. In true Viking fashion, we must accept that we do not always determine where we end up on our voyage.

On Monday, we managed to make it to Nykøbing Sjælland, but as we cannot go north and pass Odden and through the Great Belt, we decided to sail into the fjord and to Holbæk.

The ship is sailing excellently, and the crew is in high spirits. If a suitable wind comes from the east in the next few days, we will sail north, out into the Kattegat, and down through the Great Belt.
