The information gathered from the voyages are used in our research and experimental archaeological projects. The boats are sailed by volunteers from the respective boat guilds. You can read log-booknotes and see photos from the voyages.
From the moment ships cast off the last mooring lines in the Museum harbour and until they dock at the museum habour you can follow the voyage online on our website.

Summer voyages in 2019:
- The trade ship Ottar: June 30 - August 11
Ottar plans to sail as far towards Sognefjord as they can in three weeks, after which they'll set the course back to Roskilde.
- The war ship Helge Ask: June 22 - July 8
Helge Ask departs from Roskilde and is heading for Funen. The voyage ends in Nyborg, where the annual Danehof market is held.
- The fishing boat Skjoldungen: July 1 - September 1
Skjoldungen will sail along the coasts of Norway, Sweden and Denmark, from the Sognefjord to Roskilde.
- The war ship the Sea Stallion from Glendalough: June 30 - July 18
The Sea Stallion is going where the wind takes it.
