Expanded boat

Vessels from the Viking Age were more than just large clinker-built ships with their distinctive stems. There were also log boats: dug out boats as we know them from earlier periods, but also expanded log boats which were made by heating the log using fire, so that it could be manipulated into another shape. We have reconstructed three expanded log boats, dating from the years 150, 450 and 800.
