Alsted Church
In Alsted Church, 6km southwest of Sigersted, there’s a rune stone in the nave under the tower of the west wall. It wasn’t always here though, because the stone reads – eskil sati sina þesi eftiR ystin auk fliR bruþur sin sun ystis aþal miki. Trans: “Áskell raised these stones in memory of Eysteinn and his (Áskell’s) brother, Eysteinn’s son. Noble sword.” – Thus evidence suggesting it was part of a larger monument, which has disappeared. Eskil, Eysteinn and Flir lived in these parts at the end of the Viking Age as Christian Vikings – the stone is in fact also decorated with a cross.
