The Crown Prince is in front

July 2nd 2007 the Sea Stallion from Glendalough will start its voyage from Roskilde in Denmark to Dublin, the capital of Ireland. Returning to Denmark the year after.
The Viking ship voyage will be the hugest marine archaeological experiment ever. Yet, the Dublin cruise will turn into a modern fairytale as well. A cruise ventured by no man in 1000 years.
And what could be more obvious than to have a modern adventurer himself at the very front of this amazing project?
His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik is patron of the Sea Stallion and the Dublin venture.
The Sea Stallion and the royal family
“The Vikinge Ship Museum and the Sea Stallion crew are proud and extremely delighted that Crown Prince Frederik is patron of the ship and its venture. Such a remarkable project deserves to be represented second to none – and for that we are the Crown Prince grateful for his support. We need all the success we can get – no doubt about that,” Tinna Damgaard-Soerensen, the Viking Ship Museum director says.
In general the Sea Stallion – a 30 metre long Skuldelev 2 reconstruction – is in friendly footing with the royal family of Denmark. As the ship was launched in 2004 Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II gave the ship its name.
Witnessed by 15.000 visitors in the harbour in Roskilde and 52 million TV viewers world wide.
