The end of an exciting and challenging summer voyage

Skjoldungens summer voyage 2024
Published: 26/07-2024

Friday 26 July, day 26 of the Skjoldungen voyage

Every now and then things turn out differently than you hope or expect when travelling by ship. This of course also applies to Skjoldungen. We have almost reached the goal we had set before we embarked on the 4-week voyage. Exciting and challenging sailing, interesting experiences, meeting new people, our joint co-operation, where strengths and weaknesses come together. Daily chores such as breakfast, packing tents, ship, personal and shared gear, etc. etc. require great empathy and tolerance when 7 people spend so much time together in so little space as Skjoldungen.

From more or less demanding sailing to cooking and accommodation. The latter in particular has been a pleasant surprise. The friendliness and hospitality with which we are received is overwhelming. Members of associations and harbourmasters who open up their club rooms and facilities provide food for thought.

Some people travel into the wide world to meet the great adventure. Others sail on a Viking ship.

The trip is over for this time and we are in Rødby harbour waiting for transport home. See you in Roskilde.
