Heavy swell, a few seasick. We are worried about the ship’s violent movements in the swell and the strain on the rudder tackle. We take in the first reef.

The shroud ropes are tightened portside, big swell. The weather forecast is for the same weather all day and night, all the way to Lands End.
Everyone puts on wetsuits. Many seasick.

Wind is stronger, we are taking a good deal of spray in. We are extra high in the water because the wind is now more westerly.

There is a lot of baling out. We eat freeze-dried “Dry-tech” food. It is hard for the crew in the foreship. A lot are sick and wet.
