03.00, log 234, wind west 10 metres/sec.
Longship Lighthouse at Lands End abeam. We are moving into the English Channel

04.00, log 237, wind west 9 metres/sec.
We head for the lighthouse at Lizard Point.
Another wet crew member is transported to Cable One with hypothermia.

09.00, log 265, wind west 8 metres/sec
Full sail and the wind behind. Porridge for a needy crew. Half the crew, 30 people in all, were seasick yesterday and last night.

10.00, log 272, wind west 10 metres/sec.
It’s quiet on board, many sleeping.
Weather forecast on the VHF gives gale warning, southerly, for this evening and tomorrow.
We decide to go into harbour at the end of the day.

11.00, log 280, wind west 19 metres/sec.
Cable One has baked Brunswick cakes for the whole crew on the Sea Stallion.
Jubilation on board. They went down well, as if to say that the seasickness is now over.

13.29, log 300, wind west 10 metres/sec.
We tighten the rudder tackle. Skipper talks on the telephone with the harbour master in Torquay. We are welcome there.

15.22, log 314, wind west 11 metres/sec.
We take two reefs in the sail to reduce the pressure on the rudder tackle, which we can’t tighten any more.

16.13, log 317, wind west 10 metres/sec.
We sharpen up. Have the lighthouse at Start Point abeam.

18.00, log 327, wind west 11 metres/sec.
Sail along the coast at Berry Head. Beautiful landscape, sunshine.

19.30, log 334, wind west 9 metres/sec
We take the sail down and row into harbour.

19.46, log 334, wind west 10 metres/sec
Moored in Torquay, after 298 nautical miles in 56 timer. Average speed of 5.3 knots.
