The Horne Stone
Ravnunge-Tue didn’t just carve rune stones in the Bække area. As far away as Horne, just under 50km west of Bække, we find another of his rune stones. It was originally located on the ancient West Jutland road, but has now found a home in the cemetery of Horne Church. It bears the runic inscription “Ravnunge-Tue made this/Thyra’s mound”. Part of the stone is missing, and the last word, Thyra, could also be interpreted as “this”. Thus we can’t know for sure whether Tue raised several stones, all of which refer to Thyra’s mound, or several mounds for different women, all of whom happened to be called Thyra.
